Nikon 1 J4 Review

The Nikon 1 J4 all in one lens is probably the best point-n-shoot camera. The camera is portable, user-friendly and fun to use, capturing lovely images. I've had at least 5 people walk up to ask me about my tiny camera with interchangeable lenses (yes, I already bought the 30-110mm lens.) They comment on the camera's very portable size and surprise about the interchangeable lenses and seem impressed with the crisp display. I'm impressed that Nikon 1 J3 can make my photos look good.

Nikon 1 J4 Review

Pros:
The most amazing feature that most people do not know about is the 1200 frame per second high speed video mode. The resolution is limited and you can only shoot 4 seconds, but if you need it, this feature is a deal maker and enough to justify the purchase. For anything from analyzing golf swings, to debugging flickering LEDs (what I use it for), it is an amazing tool.

Con:
Must remove the battery to charge- it does not charge though the USB port. This means that you must bring the bulky charger with you rather than the USB cable you probably are bringing anyway. This is silly. It also means that you have to remove your tripod shoe every time you charge your battery and loose any alignment you had

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Film Camera Review

Fujifilm INSTAX Mini 8 color models preserve the ease of use and attractive design elements of the existing INSTAX Mini series. At the same time, the Mini 8 cameras offer new features and enhancements. You will instantly notice a slimmer and lighter body. The INSTAX Mini 8 is approximately10% smaller than the Mini 7S in volume ratio. It is now even easier for the consumer to carry around an INSTAX with them everywhere.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Film Camera Review

The new INSTAX Mini 8 features automatic exposure measurement. The camera signals the recommended aperture setting with a flashing LED light and the user can manually adjust the dial to the recommended setting. This helps the user capture the perfect photo every time. A new High-Key mode is available on the INSTAX Mini 8 cameras. This mode enables consumers to take brighter pictures with a soft look -perfect for portraits. The viewfinder has also been improved for enhanced subject viewing. Framing a shot becomes easier for the user with even greater clarity and improved visibility.

Review

The camera itself is simple to use. The one exposure control is easy to understand and manipulate. This camera has a nice heavy feel to it. Not that it is heavy, but that there is a little heft to it, giving the sense that it is not just a toy. Images come out nice and sharp. The film for this camera has a lot of detail and is pretty good in low light. I have not bothered looking into the ISO of the film but seems like a nice average.

I really missed the i-zone that Polaroid made a few years back. That was a fun camera to play with, in my opinion this one is better. I like the size of the prints, just large enough for some detail, small enough to keep it in the novelty arena. I have scanned a bunch of these images and really like the results when reprinting them a little larger. If you are into toy cameras like the i-zone or the Holga this camera will be a nice addition to your collection. If you still use the old Polaroid land camera to take snapshots you might consider this camera to be a cool variation on instant film.

Review

I absolutely love this camera. I purchased it refurbished, no worries it looks and operates like new. I am in real estate, and the first comment I get when I pull it out of the bag is how pretty it is. So much of what I do requires really nice pictures and this camera does not disappoint. I specifically chose this one because it helps with stabilizing the pictures so I don't have to put up with blurry pictures. It is easy to use, even tells you when you've left the lens cover in place. Okay, that may be something really basic to those used to working with high end cameras, but I am someone jumping from using a cell phone. Don't be concerned about purchasing refurbished, don't be concerned about the camera being too complicated. It's a great camera at a great price.

Review

It's not a top of the line camera, but for the price it can't be beat. I purchased it mainly to take pictures of cats at the shelter, and it has worked wonderfully so far. Despite the cat constantly moving, or moving at the last second 9 times out of 10 the picture comes out crystal clear. It even takes very clear pictures of my fish! That alone is amazing.

The camera control options I think are a bit limited, but I can't really complain for the cost. Just something to get used to. I'd suggest it for anyone looking for a basic point and shoot without tons of frills. just the right size, all the buttons are solid feeling and takes great pictures of fast moving fish/cats.

Sony W800/B 20.1 MP Review

Sony W800/B 20.1 MP exceeded all of my expectations. It is small, lightweight and very easy to handle with one hand. The pictures are sharp, extremely clear. It has a built in macro lens for shooting small objects like flowers or insects. A powerful 20.1 megapixel super HAD CCD image sensor helps you capture gorgeous images with superb contrast and clarity down to the finest detail.

Sony W800/B 20.1 MP Review

Pros:

*** Lightweight slim and stylish design: It can fit in small spaces and look and feel like a high quality item.

*** USB charging ability: That is one of the selling points for me. I keep it in my car and I don't want to run out of power any time or go through the hassle of removing the battery and charging it separately ,which requires carrying the charging adapter all the time and also the ability to plug in that adapter. Instead. all I do is to connect it to my 12V car USB charger and it pretty quickly accumulates good amount of charge level... It comes with a wall adapter (5V 0.5A) which connects to a detachable USB cable (so you can use the cable and attach it to any USB charger). But be careful about the USB cable. The standard USB-micro B cable that charges most mobile devices do not work for this type. If you need a replacement or an extra you need to buy a USB-UC E6 cable.

*** Easy menu mode: Practicality should be the main focus in a snapshot device and even my grandfather could get through this menu. One of the most user-friendly interfaces I have seen so far.

*** Panoramic shoot ability: That was a surprise for me. I had not read the product description in detail before buying and that was such a handy function. I used to take panoramic photos by taking tens of photos with my DSLR and stiching them with a software which was both difficult and time consuming. This function does it instantly and produces comparable quality photos.

*** 5X optical zoom: When it comes to zooming, in photographic terms, the less is often more. The best lenses even come with no zoom at all. However for a practical item like this, zoom is essential and 5X is a good range for the optical zoom (it is also critical that you compare the optical zoom capacities of devices and not the digital zoom before making a judgement.)

*** Image quality: As I said above, it does not match the quality of a DSLR and I don't care about the high pixel size either. For cameras with small sensor sizes like snapshots, it is actually better to get a low MP device for sharper images, but this one not bad at all especially in daylight. HD Video quality is also good but again depends on the light.

Cons:

*** Low light performance: Again, I want to stress that I am not expecting professional quality from this device, but I found the low light performance moderate at best. The noise was somewhat irritating even with flash.

*** Slow shutter speed: It has a continuous shooting mode which is supposed to take multiple frames in a short time as long as the shutter button is depressed. However this device has a long long refractory period between shoots that it is not even worth bothering with that mode. You need to decrease the image quality 3 steps to be able to notice some multiple shooting effect and that is not worth it. So if you wish to take a photo of a flying bird or a running person or a passing by car, you don't have much choice to take multiple photos and decide later.

*** Zoom buttons: I like the zoom to be a ring style beneath the shutter button but this is like a plus and minus at the back which is not very convenient.

*** No optical viewfinder: This is not a problem for this model only. Most recent cameras sacrifice from an optical viewfinder and all you get is a digital image on the screen to help you adjust your photo before taking it. First of all it does not give the sense of taking a photo but more importantly digital screen viewfinder drains battery and also performs bad in bright light.

*** Video focusing sound: While recording video of a closely located object (where there is a constant need to re-adjust autofocusing) and if the surrounding is silent, you can hear the sound of focus adjustments in your recording. But as I said that is only obvious in full silence and for short distance recordings.

Overall you like it or not depends on your expectations. For me it is a handy and adequately performing device with quite useful features. I am happy to purchase Sony W800.

Nikon Coolpix L330 Review

Nikon Coolpix L330 | If you are looking for a snapshot camera that can pretty much do it all, this Nikon Coolpix L330 is worthy of your consideration. I am a camera nut and own both full-size Nikon SLRs (my present one is the Nikon D5300) as well as small pocket cameras. This L330 is essentially a hybrid between the two -- it is small (and light) enough to be easily carried, and yet has a large and powerful lens that can do many things better than a true pocket camera.

Nikon Coolpix L330 Review

The outstanding characteristic of Nikon Coolpix L330 is the lens. The lens features a much larger objective lens than any pocket camera, which means that it is capturing more light for more detail and sharper shots. For taking still pictures, for example, I notice a clear difference in favor of this camera in comparison to my Canon pocket camera. The 26X optical zoom really makes this camera a "do all" for both landscape shots, portraits, and many other kinds of shooting. Like all cameras of this class, this one is probably not the camera to use for action shots such as flying birds or football games, although it may do in a pinch.

Ergonomically Nikon Coolpix L330 is well thought-out. I was able to pretty much completely figure this camera out without resorting to the manual, which is a good thing as the manual is nearly useless. Most users should simply spend 20 minutes browsing through the camera menus; this will adequately familiarize most users with the camera. (The manual is very rudimentary.) Frankly, you can put most settings on "auto" and do just fine with this camera. The viewfinder shows both shutter speed and F/stop, which is a nice feature for more advanced shooters. The flash is easy to use and is pretty good for a flash of this class.
